MicroBooks Privacy Policy
Effective date: September 15, 2026
Operator: Michael Storzieri, doing business as Doctor Micro (“we,” “us”)
Product: MicroBooks (bookkeeping application)
This policy describes how we handle information when you use MicroBooks. MicroBooks is an internal bookkeeping tool for Doctor Micro. It is not a consumer social app or a lending marketplace.
1. Information we collect
Depending on how you use MicroBooks, we may process:
- Account information — name, email, and login credentials (or via our auth provider)
- Bookkeeping data — chart of accounts, transactions, invoices, bills, reports, and related records you enter or import
- Bank / card connection data (via Plaid) — when you choose to link an account, Plaid provides tokens and transaction data so we can import activity into your books. We do not receive your bank password
- Payment processing data (via Stripe) — when you charge clients, Stripe processes card details; we receive payment status and related metadata, not full card numbers
- Technical data — basic logs, device/browser type, and IP address for security and reliability
2. How we use information
We use this information to:
- Provide and improve MicroBooks bookkeeping features
- Import and categorize financial transactions you authorize
- Process client payments you initiate
- Secure the service, prevent abuse, and meet legal obligations
We do not sell your personal information.
3. How we share information
We share information only with:
- Service providers that help us operate MicroBooks (for example Plaid for account linking, Stripe for payments, hosting/auth providers), under agreements that limit their use of the data
- Authorities when required by law or to protect rights and safety
We do not share linked bank credentials with third parties other than through Plaid’s secure Link flow as you authorize.
4. Connected financial accounts (Plaid)
If you connect a bank or credit card through Plaid:
- You authorize Plaid and MicroBooks to access account and transaction information as described in Plaid’s own terms and End User Privacy Policy
- You may disconnect linked items in MicroBooks (when that feature is available) or by contacting us
- Disconnecting stops new imports; we may retain previously imported bookkeeping records as part of your books unless you ask us to delete them where feasible
5. Data retention
We keep bookkeeping and account data while your MicroBooks account is active and as needed for tax, accounting, legal, and security purposes. You may request deletion of account data subject to those obligations.
6. Security
We use industry-standard measures such as encryption in transit (TLS) and access controls. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
7. Children’s privacy
MicroBooks is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
8. Your choices
You may:
- Update account information in the app
- Disconnect bank links where supported
- Contact us to request access, correction, or deletion where applicable
